Medical Camp-Nepal 2007

We trekked for 2 days to the mountain top village of Bhakyak where we served over 2200 villagers- some of whom walked for days to seek services at the Clinic Camp. Six holistic medical practitioners from Minneapols and New Mexico were joined by 12 Nepali Ayurvedic and allopathic doctors. The Medical Camp was set up in an abandoned government medical facility. The villagers lined the streets in their best dress, bowing "namaste", handing us flowers, dancing, playing instruments, leading us iin a parade of honor, as we  walked up the cobble stone streets through through the Welcome Banners, into the village. The villagers had awaited hours for our arrival. We worked diligently to serve all who came, within three days. We were a team of acupuncturists, herbalists, physical therapists, nurses, midwives, gynecologist/pediatricians, lab technicians, ayurvedic and allopathic doctors. We were assisted by over a dozen village volunteers. As we left the village, on our last day, the villagers, again, lined the streets and handed us flowers in gratitude. We trekked through the mountains and through rice paddies and camped for 2 days before we got to the roads to be picked up by our bus to take us back to Kathamandu and CCODER office. The culmination of a successful medical mission!
